This company advertises their book "Mortgage Free For Life" at a fee of $29.99. My wife ordered their book for the advertised charge of $29.99. After receiving her banking information, this company then withdrew $288.87 from her bank account without authorization.
I called the company and was told, "Your wife automatically ordered the 'free trial software' which also has a charge." At this point I requested clarification of their interpretation of the phrase "free trial software" and the actual cost charged for this "free trial software." At this point the customer service agent (Alfredo) became angry, verbally combative and disconnected the call.
Web Site: The company's agents insist that their web site http://www.mortgagefreeforlife.com exists. Extensive research revealed that the web site does not exist and is unreachable using the registered IP Address (64.87.24.98).in reality, the company's actual web site is located at a web address listed as "leapequity.com, " an obvious misdirection attempt.
Return Policy: Although the company's agent states that the book can be returned for a refund (minus shipping and handling charges), they do not provide an RMA number or any other information needed for the customer to return the product. Additionally, no product return information exists at the company's web site.
Shipping Information: The company charged over $19.00 for UPS shipping and handling.in reality, they use UPS Basic Shipping to forward the order to your local Post Office, then rely on the Post Office to deliver the items. Another attempt at subterfuge which makes returning the product difficult.
This company engages in deceptive advertising practices and has positioned itself within multiple layers of other companies. Typically these practices of subterfuge and misdirection are employed to hide the scammers true identity and make it extremely difficult for the consumer and governmental agencies to take effective action against them.
If you are a victim of this company, immediately file complaints with your State's Attorney General, the California Attorney General, Federal Fair Trade Commission, and Better Business Bureau. Lastly, immediately dispute the charges with your financial institution and change any account numbers used to make the purchase.
Avoid this company at all cost.
