I want to file a complaint against Gardens Alive. They advertise on their website and in their catalogue that they sell LIVE Lady Beetles — 900 per bag and that they will "stay home" in your yard.
Well I ordered their 3 bag order — they send a bag of bugs every 3 weeks, 3 times. Each bag has supposedly 900 beetles.
I got my first bag and the bugs were very dead. There were none alive. I also looked at the bag of supposedly 900 beetles, and noted there were far fewer than 900 beetles — actually less than 300. I called Gardens Alive and they said they will replace the first bag. I got the replacement — most of the beetles were alive, but they certainly did not total 900 bugs. There were approximately 350. The second bag came, and most of them were alive, but again, far short of the 900 beetles promised. The third bag just came this past Monday, and went to release the bugs, and noted there were a lot of dead ones again. So I proceeded to put them in a jar first and count the beetles. About 50 were alive and they flew off. The rest were very dead. I counted over 400 dead beetles in the bag. I did call Gardens Alive, and they are sending me another bag of bugs, in about 2 weeks.
The problem is I paid over $35 for the 3 shipments. That is a lot of money for dead bugs. Also, the fact that there are NOT 900 lady beetles in the bag is important to whomever wants to order from this Company. This is not the first time I dealt with the company. Last year in early spring I order a bunch of plants, fruits trees, and berry plants. Spent over $100 bucks. Part of the order never came, the blueberry plants died, and the only 2 plants survived were the mulburry trees (except they do not look like mulberry plants — the leaves aren't right, so I do not know what kind of tree it will turn out and 2 apricot trees. The rest never came. They only credited me for the dead blueberry plant. So it was an expensive order. I used the $20 credit to get the bugs. Plus I spend another $15.00 plus shipping.
I assure you I will NOT be ordering anything else from this company.
Please get this out to Google and others so people won't be duped!
