MBNA perspective cutomers beware! I was a customer of NBNA for 3 years in good standing. I pay my bills on time and for at least the minimum payment.in spite of this MBNA raises my rate from less than 10% To 22.98%.
When I called to inquire about the change, they said they notified me in writing of the pending change (must have been in the fine print on the back of the statement?).
Ok, thats their right, and not what really angered me. I accepted an offer from Capitol One for a less than 5% rate. Transfered my 11K balance (which left me with a MBNA credit since I paid the next month payment on time).
20 days after the MBNA balance had been paid off (transfered to Capitol one) and confirmed by statement, and an excess Credit of $153.36 was confirmed remaining in the account. I Called MBNA to have them mail me the credit and close out the account. The service Rep (Mary Ann) said They can't send me the check until the end of the next billing period becouse additional interest would accrue and she was unsure what the balance would be at that time.
What! Are you kidding! My balance is paid off for virtually the entire period. My payment was adjusted (reduced) be 37 days) previous month interest plus extra 6 or so days into the new billing period and you intend to accru interest on the credit I have remaining?! Perspective customers beware!
