Arrow truckingco
More stranded by arrow

I too have been ripped off and left abandoned by Arrow. As I lok back it all began as I was hired on in 2002. I was told that I would be paid 26 cents per mile as a flatbed newby but was paid the van driver newby rate of 25cpm. I was never issued proper equipment (rusted chains and binders, holey tarps) we had to pay for needed equipment to do the job that should have been provided (wench bar, camera). It only got worse as time went on. The awards program grew slimmer and slimmer until oit was non exsistent, Pay went up as miles went down. If you wanted to have a clean truck you had to pay for washes out of pocket and would not get reimbursed.

They wondered why there were so many rollovers and the reason was simple. Poor equipment maintenance and poor attitude toward driver satisfaction. Forced dispatch at unreasonable hours. The new HOS didn't help either. They had a bad habit of having you deliver at 7 or 8 AM and then giving you a load that picks up at 11PM the same day and it is 200 miles away. That would make you go beyond the 14 hour rule.

As for my case, they gave me incomplete load information in Baltimore MD, I was to pick up a load of lumber at the Baltimopre docks. I picked up the load that gave me a gross of 77,000 lbs. I took it to NC a 1 day trip. When I got to NC the load was inspected and it was slightly wet. That was not the problem. It was also molded and had termites. They also asked me where the other 1/2 of the load was. Notice that I was already at 77,000. I could have only taken 2 more bundles of lumber maybe and I was supposed to have 6 more.

The load was rejected because of the termites and mold. I was told to take the load back to Baltimore. This was on Friday. After being unloaded on Frday in Baltimore I was told to deadhead to Masury OH for a load on Monday (a lie) After sitting in Masury OH all weekend I was told I had been fired and they would get me transportation home. After 7 years on the truck I acumilated enough things that the DHS would not let you on the bus with. I needed a U Haul seeing that I had to get to Florida. They offered the ticket but did not deliver. I guess I was supposed to stay outside all night with my stuff because they didn't provide me with lodging either.

I rented my own transportation home at substantial cost to me. WHen I ask for reimbursement I was ignored. I asked for my pay and was told there was a $200 log fee for the last log. I was fired that day. I owed them no log. I asked where the pay was for the miles I had to deadhead from Baltimore were. I was told they were unpaid miles. That was over 300 miles. They double taxed everything. If you had to pay for a part or repair out of pocket you got taxed for the pay you had to use and when you were reimbursed (by chance) you were taxed again.

I had better quit posting because I have 7 uyears of memories from Arrow trucking and I still have nightmares. I feel sorry for the drivers that were Shanghaied on Dec 22. I don't feel sorry for anyone in the terminals, Especially DM Greg Harris because the last words he said to me were " you're terminated, I'm busy, have a nice day" and then he hung up. To Greg "hairless" What goes around comes around. Have a nice day. I hope you have more skills than being a spineless weasel.
