Beware of Ben and his company Pools by Ben Inc. He is a liar and comits fraud on a daily basis. I have had several experiences with this company not only directly but through other friends and family. He primarily works for home warranty companies and when he is called out to troubleshoot a problem with your pool and/or spa he will make up any excuse to not cover it through your policy and then he tries to up sell you and get you to buy new (expensive) equipment from him. He will tell you your pump was too big and that caused your filter to break, or that your 25 year old heater failed because you neglected to clean your filter. Completed false reports written by him with only one thing in mind, money. He wants to sell you new equipment at full price even though you are entitled to have the repairs completed via your home warranty policy with a $50 deductible.
The lies he comes up with are outrageous. I have tracked this company for sometime and have met or communicated with at least 30 local homeowners that have had the unfortunate bad luck of having this thief on their property. The home warranty companies are well aware of his fraudulant activities but because he saves them money he continues to get work. This makes the home warranty companies he works for guilty by association. They are knowingly sending out a thief to convince you that you are to blame for the equipment failures therefore you must pay. It has been proven time and time again by the equipment manufacturers that he is a liar and his excuses for why the equipment failed and incorrect.
He is so hated amongst his peers in the swimming pool industry that he has several restraining orders against fellow swimming pool contractors that have had the courage to stand up and tell him he is a thief and a liar.
Beware and avoid at all costs. If you have a home warranty in the Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, Palmdale or Lancaster demand to have any contractor but him to inspect your pool or you'll be sorry.
Dont believe me? Give it a shot, let him come to your property and see if he lies and tries to sell you the world when you dont need it!
