They charged me NSF fees because I couldn't cover THERE charges

I have been doing business with Wachovia for about a year now. I have been a victim of what I call the "Wachovia Shuffle" (the act of them re-arranging your transactions so they are to the advantage of the bank, maximizing NSF fees) one other time but this takes the cake.

I have an automatic transfer set up to send 250.00 from my Wachovia checking account into another non-Wachovia account every week. Last week, I ended up being about 10.00 short for that transfer. I knew I was short but assumed that the transfer just wouldn't go through and there would be no fees added, which was the practice of other banks I have dealt with in the past. I guess I'm a little "old school" in that I still associate NSF fees with an actual bounced check and not with electronic money transfers. With this assumption in mind, I went on paying bills, buying groceries etc. Up until the day before yesterday. What happened? Any Wachovia customer who is reading this site probably knows... They zinged me for the transfer (35.00) which then threw all my other transactions off costing me another 170.00 in NSF fees.

After it was all said and done, my account was negative 250.15. Finally, I got paid (my meager paycheck) which brought my account current about 100 bucks to last me the week. I quickly went and took all of that out before these bastards could get there greedy little mitts on my hard earned money. This morning I awoke to find an email from Wachovia stating that "for my convenience" they attempted to initiate the transfer I stated above once again. Because the funds weren't there, they hit me with ANOTHER 35.00 NSF fee. Also, since all this started I have been locked out of the transfer funds page of there web site so I was unable to cancel or change the bank transfer in question. Go figure... I am not going to call them to get this resolved as any interaction with there customer service department has proven to be a waste of time in the past. (Read between the lines: THEY ARE MORONS)

I am currently seeking another bank that does legit business, but, it is proving to be difficult. It seems that all the big banks have some sort of small print or a catch that will inevitably cost you big bucks for even the smallest errors. I am probably going to go with a credit union or local bank but even that is getting harder as most of them (at least where I'm at) have either gone out of business or sold out to one of the mega banks. I guess it wasn't bad enough for them to take billions from us in the form of bailout money but they also have to put everyone out of business and steal from the American working class. It all makes my stomach turn.

I'm not the most religious person nor do I really believe in karma but it's situations like this that makes me hope that one day the people responsible for these types of practices will "get there's".

Thanks for reading and letting me rant. I feel much better now.
