Disconnect my service

To all potential customers,

I'd like to alert everyone here not to use Charter Communications for any of their services as they have proved over and over not only are the technical staff incompetent, their customer services staff are both rude and useless.

In January I called to get new internet installed and phone service switched over from Verizon. They said the internet change would occur some days later (I don't remember exactly but before the phone switch) and they will contact Verizon to have the phone switched over on 1/22. Their staff came over to see what they could do to install internet for me. They had this complicated plan to dig open my concrete driveway. I told them I didn't want this done and canceled the order.

Well, I don't know what they did but came January 25, my phone service was disconnected from Verizon and I haven't had phone service since. I didn't discover this earlier b/c it's for my house alarm use. I only discovered this when I tried to make a phone call. I called Verizon, they stated the phone was ported over to another carrier.

Note that before this incident I was contemplating getting cable TV from them. The technician that came barely spoke any English but I gathered he wanted to make a bunch of holes on my walls. I didn't want this and wanted the holes hidden. They told me it would cost hundreds of dollars to make discreet holes and I would have to get an independent contractor to do this before they would hook the cables. Why did I try to use them again you might ask. I thought I'd give them a chance since where I live they're the only internet provider (besides satellite which cost too much). But after this experience, I may just bite the bullet and get satellite.

I called Charter and spoke to Alma Operator number 13136 who told me that it was not their problem. According to her they had sent the cancel request to Verizon. However she couldn't confirm with me whether or not verizon got the cancel request and it wasn't their responsibility to follow up on it. Noted that they never even told me that it was something that I even needed to follow up on. Secondly she claimed since my phone was disconnected from Verizon 3 days (1/25) after the date Charter was supposed to port it over, it wasn't their problem.

I asked to speak to a supervisor, she refused to give me the information and told me to complain on their website. I'm infuriated over this problem. They have proven to me without a doubt they're only in it to make a buck they don't care anything about closing things out properly. If I was a potential customer I should be very wary about a company that behave so irreponsibly.
