We purchase a full Blood adult female German Shepherd Dog from German Shepherd Rescue for a $350 donation. We were told at the time of the rescue that this dog had no problems except getting her out of a vehicle after a ride. When we brought her (Tia) home, she began to show sign immediately of being timid. She immediately bonded with me but would have nothing to do with my boyfriend. Everytime he would come near her she would tuck her tail and run away. He tried feeding and petting her in hopes of bonding but nothing worked. Then outside one day we were chopping wood and as soon as he picked up the ax to chop wood (Tia) bolted around the house and would not return. My boyfriend is a very gentle and soft spoken person. He never raises his voice at her, yet she acts as though he is going to harm her in someway. I work part-time, so from time to time (Tia) and our Husky have to be left alone. So I put them in the garage where I feel they are the safest. Then when it got cold we purchased two kennels. One is a large wire kennel, the other is made of fiberglass or something like it. We put (Tia) in the wire kennel because it was the largest and she is the larger of the two dogs. When I got home she was out free in the house. I looked at the wire kennel and the door was literally torn open with some of the wires broken. We mended the kennel as best we could. The next time we put (Tia) in the smaller fiberglass kennel. When I got home, I found that (Tia) had eaten thru the fiberglass where the door was connected and she then ripped the doof off the hinge. After having this dog about 4 months we see no improvement and believe we have tried everything we can think of to help this dog adjust. She only seems to be getting worse.
When we first rescued (Tia), Connie at German Shepherd Rescue of Central Colorado told us that if we ever decided we didn't want (Tia) to be sure and bring her back there and the contract even states so. However, when we contacted Connie by phone she immediately began blaming us for (Tia's) problems and told us that we only had ten (10) day from date of adoption to return her, that besides she didn't have room for her and she certainly wasn't going to give us our money back or exchange (Tia) for another dog. We didn't want our money back. We just want a dog that can be an intergrated part of our family. No where in the contract does it state we only have ten days to return her.
We feel Connie @ German Shepherd Rescue of Central Colorado has no real interest in the welfare of these dog. That she is only interested in the Donation Money.
All I can say is, BUYER BEWARE.
