I purchased a telephone set to use in my home office. Once I unpacked it and set it up, I discovered one of the handsets was defective and inoperative. I returned the item promptly - only to discover that I would be charged a "restocking" fee because the box had been opened. Office Max restocks defective products???
I complained to the store manager - as of January 1 this is their new return policy. If you buy a product and it happens to be defective right out of the box, Office Max will charge you a fee to return it.
I contacted customer service and was at first told that the restocking fee would be refunded. Then they changed their mind. You get a complete runaround if you try to contact anyone with any authority.
Clearly Office Max has no regard for their customers. It is aggravating enough to spend time and money on a product that is defective - it is absolutely outrageous to be charged a fee for the inconvenience.
