My credit is not the best, and I was in need of a personal loan to clear up some medical and other bills. So, as many people do, I went to the internet for help. I like to consider myself a careful consumer, but I suppose even careful people get scammed. I sent out some information in regards to the loan and received an offer from Norwest Financial Group. The offered me a secured loan of $5000.00. I was to secure the loan with a down payment. This sounded funny to me, so I did some research on the company. I went to the
Better Business Bureau, and they had an A - rating (at the time, it is now an F after I filed a complaint). Their information matched
everything I was given, as well as it matched the companies website. I also yahoo searched for any review of the company, and found nothing.
So, against my better judgment, I sent the deposit via Western Union. I had heard of this scam happening to other people, and there was even a warning at Western Union. But, I was in desperate need of the money and wanted to believe my research and not my gut feeling. So, I sent the money. Two days later, when the loan was supposed to fund, I received a call from my account representative stating that underwritting had denied my loan. I knew at that moment that I had been scammed. I immediately requested a refund. I was told that it would take 15-30 days. After about 10 days I reported the company to the Better Business Bureau. Most recently I have contacted the Mass. State Attorney General to help. I want to see if you can also help me. I am well aware that I may never see that money again, but I would like to at least take the company down if I can't get my money back.
