I am a student at Indiana University - Fort Wayne. I received this in my student email inbox this morning and right away knew it was a scam. It said it was from IPFW Support, but I know my school, and the people in Fort Wayne (It's a very small town) and I know they would NEVER send something like this to their students. When I moused over the green text, the e-mail it came from showed up.
This was a phishing attempt from someone at Arizona State University. I tried to look up the last name WONG in the directory, and was surprised to see that everyone had the same last name of Wong. If that isn't suspicious, I don't know what is.
Our IPFW online accounts have extremely secure information in them. Bank account / Check card numbers, student I.D. Numbers which are directly linked to our socials, e-mail accounts, transcripts, addresses, phone numbers, student loan/grant information, the ability to add or drop courses... So I am highly concerned that someone - especially a for profit school - would try to steal this information.
Stay away from this company. I've been a victim of fraudulent for-profit school educational scams as several others, but this just takes the cake. If they are doing this I can only imagine the scams and fraudulent practices they are engaging in on their campuses. You do not want to engage in business with or trust people like this with your education.
Beware
