Two young lads solicited donation fees to earn points to be able to compete in a baseball playoff that takes place in Hawaii. The books that they were selling were to be sent to the Loma Linda Hospital, for "Kids with Cancer" and "Austistic Kids".
The two young men were involved in this years National Cash Award program. The books were selling for $40.00 a set, but when the receipt was drawn, there was also a process and handling charge of $15.00. The lads were quote "self employed" through Dynasty Sales LLC. The back of the receipt gave NOTICE OF CANCELLATION instructions that had to be cancelled within 3 business days of the transaction. I put a stop pay on the check and mailed the cancelation order. This is a scheme that has been played over and over for years. My ex sister in law ran this type of operation over 30 years ago. Leaders would advertise in the paper for agents to earn quick money. Usually they are taught in a hotel or motel room. The handling and shipping fees are for the sales person. The books are never delivered and the time limit for the first delivery is 120 days. The people are long gone by then, going on to the next location. There is no way to contact the sales person or to verify that a book has ever been sent.
