I am in the process of dealing with them now and going through BBB, but they charged $120 for a 2.5 mile tow, and on their own decided to use a flatbed truck without checking with me (I understand this is the MB rec, however my car is out of warranty, so I wanted a regular tow). Oh did I mention I was a Triple A member too, and informed Mercedes of this, but this shop isn't part of their program?
Even considering the flatbed, when the local going flatbed rate for hookup is 50-85 plus 2.50 per mile, it is unreasonable to charge that much above the local rate, without implicit approval from the actual customer.
This was an unusual circumstance, but if their rates are above the norm of the area, and they charge their contractual Mercedes Benz or "dealership" rate to regular customers, they should inform their customer beforehand, so they can obtain alternate towing. I really hope they resolve this and I don't have to go to small claims court.
