R1 Moving And Storage, All United Van Lines
All United Van Lines Moving scam! Don't make the same mistake I did... They are TERRIBLE!

I can't say enough bad things about this company. They were truly a nightmare to work with. Our move was from Northern California to Southern California a total of approximately 350 miles. I should have trusted my gut and canceled the move I had scheduled with them when within 24 hours of giving them my credit card number for a deposit, I was alerted of $700 in fraudulent charges on my card. Since I had no solid evidence that it was them (just a very strong gut feeling based on the fact they were the only people I had given my card number out to) I proceeded with my move.

Day of the move: They sent 2 movers to our apartment who proceeded to pack all the furniture into boxes, with tons of bubble wrap or with the so-called "free" moving blankets using a ridiculous amount of tape to secure the blankets. This was not our first move but it is the first time I have ever seen movers do this. I can honestly say I have ever seen someone use that much packing material for furniture.in the end, despite the fact that we packed our belongings ourselves, they charged us $800 in just packing supplies and labor for their packing. $800!!! Again, this was a 2 bedroom apartment where we had packed everything and they came in and packed the furniture?! We were floored but felt as though we couldn't do anything since our stuff was already in the truck. We were told we would be contacted within a day or two, once our items were weighed, to be given the balance of what we owed upon delivery at the final destination. I should also mention that $800 was the amount quoted to us as the total cost of the move. As others have mentioned, they wanted the balance to be paid to the driver in cash or cashier's check.

After 6 days (technically 3 business days) I called THEM for an update. Did not receive a call back as promised. I called back again the next day and was told we owed another $1300 which in the next phone call he changed to $1100!! Obviously we said we would not accept the delivery at that price not after our original quote was $800 total and were charged that amount in bogus packing fees alone. Total scam. Total nightmare. A condescending "manager" who would not give me his last name called back to say he was giving us a discount of $400 and our balance was therefore $850.in addition to his math being totally wrong we had no choice but to accept it. The driver was set to arrive that day! Part of the scam is to hold your belongings hostage then ask for an exorbitant ransom.

To add insult to injury they broke the leg off of an antique couch they moved. Yes, the same couch they charged us to "pack" themselves. The same couch that we moved from Virginia to California with another moving company with no problems, wrapped only a blanket. There were other broken items as well. I could go on and on about what a despicable company this is. Please do not make the mistake of using them. It's a SCAM!
