Sunline Logistics This company uses deception and force to get it drivers to run illegal vehicles

I started working for this company on 12-24. My partner and I took possession of the truck at the Spring Mountain location, Las Vegas Nevada, which was already 3,000 pounds overweight on the tandoms. The truck was filthy and a health hazard. The company didn't clean the truck. Me and my partner took 3 hours to sterilize the inside compartment. The tandoms did not operate properly and we had to take the truck and trailer to a mechanic who had to use a grinder and sledge hammer for four hours to get the tandom to slide. We encountered problem after problem with the company from the on-set.

We were told in the office before we even took possession of the truck that our fuel cards were loaded and ready for use. We soon discovered that to be a lie. Our first trip was from Las Vegas, Nevada to New Brunswick New Jersey. Not one time were we able to just fuel without difficulties. ComData not once honored our fuel card straight out. We always had to contact the company and wait 45 minutes to as much as 3 hours just to get cleared to fuel. ComData would refer us to their collections department almost every single time. This was also the case on half of our fuel stops on our return trip to Las Vegas NV. Dispatch is a drivers worst enemy. Susan (Sue) is the biggest lier you'll ever talk to on the other end of a phone. She will send you to a location to pick up a trailer assuring you that the load is already waiting to be hooked up to. The load will not be ready and you will have to sit half a day, or even over night before you can hook up to your load. Bare in mind that the drivers don't get paid for the time sitting on their ass waiting for the company to get their business straight. Therefore a trip that should take 3 days can turn into 5 unnecessary days on the truck away from home and family.

The company used lies and false promises of 'bonus compensation' to manipulate us into driving 0000 miles round trip to pick up personal furniture on a refeer trailer for their inlaws. We're still waiting to be compensated for those miles of driving and furniture loading. We reported an air leak in New Jersey. The company said they were sending a mechanic to service the truck. No mechanic ever showed up. We had to track down the problem and fix it ourselves.

On 12-25 (Christmas Day we notified the company that the license were about to expire in a few days). We were told they would take care of that. On our return trip we ran 5 days illegal without up to date tags. But to our surprise coming into Arizona port of entry at the scale we discovered that not only was the tags expired, but IFTA was expired, registration was expired and there was no current insurance card. Arizona's policy is to issue the registration ticket violation to the driver - not the company. For you truck drivers that don't know... That is a $340.00 ticket that goes on your personal driving record. The company said they would pay it but they haven't done it yet. Also, that ticket is one that you have to appear in court on in person. Who do you think has to pay for the trip to go back to Arizona to make the court appearance? That's right! The driver. And that would be a round trip expense.

Now this prompted us to do a little investigation of our own - and what we found out was that the company has 13 trucks - and guess what? All 13 trucks were the same. IFTA was expired on all the trucks, registration was expired on all the trucks, the tags were expired on all of the trucks and none of the trucks had current insurance cards. North Carribean Transport INC / (aka: Sunline Logistics) has all of its drivers running illegal and in jeopardy of compromising their CDL.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention this little fact also. The company tells you that they pay you by the mile. But when they do their figures to calculate your pay they actually calculate your pay by zip codes. One zip code could cover as much as 10 to 30 miles. So, the company can actually shave all of those miles off of your pay. Now add that deduction by as many trips that you make too.
