Rick Marino is a slum lord. We signed a lease last august, and were not able to move in until November because he did not make it livable until then. We helped with the whole process, even painting the entire kitchen, shelving included. We were never compensated for that, which he said he would do.
We gave him $700 deposit on good faith, and now he is trying to keep all of it. He never repaired the back door, which has 2 one inch gaps on the top and the bottom. Just enough to let out my air conditioning/heat and let all of the bugs in. The bathroom faucet has always leaked. He says thats just how it is. The entire house has been flooded at one point or another because of how crappy and run down it is. The kitchen ceiling is peeling and leaking. We had a pipe burst in my front yard in march, which took him over three weeks to fix. Was without water for 5 days. I was four months pregnant at the time, and he was not concerned about the liability of having to walk through a mudslide to get inside of the house. He offered to give us $200 of our rent for the month, and ended up giving us $150 saying that he gave the other $50 to his friend for helping him. Like that's my fault.
In april, he walked right into my house and I was verbally attacked by him for no reason. Threatened to call the cops on him, and he still wouldn't leave.
Now comes august, when its time to move out. Says he's keeping our deposit because someone from the city had to come out and take weeds off of the fence in the back yard. First of all, he told my husband not to touch that stuff when we moved in. Second of all, the neighbor in the back made the complaint. Third of all, we were not given any notice that this work needed done. Fourth of all, we asked him if his sister hired someone to do this, because the neighbor said he saw men doing this, and he said yes. We were never told of any bill, and now four months later, he is trying to charge us for this. This is unethical.
He's a racist and after all we've done for him and his house, especially listening to his pity parties for himself, he is treating us like this. He is a dispicable human, and more so because he calls himself a "christian". We invited him into our house, and now he is stabbing us in the back. If this is how he treats friends, or anyone trying to be nice to him, its no wonder he has no friends.
