Empire Promotional Events
They were a scam

I had an interview with this company in late September. I applied to online to this company and I got a phone call later that day to set up an interview. I immediately set one up, thinking this would be great. Before I went to my interview, I check out their website. It was not contain a lot of information about what they did, where they went, or how they operated. When I arrived at their office early that morning, I filled out a form that require me to fill in some basic information. Then I had an interview with a the head of their charity department that lasted 10 minutes. He told me I was extremely qualified and he would like to set up a second interview. He gave basic answers about what they do, and not really answering my questions. This made me suspicious from start.

So I came back for the second interview, which required me to drive myself to a pre-arranged location. They made me pay the tolls and gas to get there without reimbursement. I talked to another supervisor who was working outside this location. My interview was to talk to here and watch how they try to sell products to people as they leave different locations like supermarkets, delis, fast food chains, and other similar locations. The products were not a good quality and they were lying to people to get them to buy things.

After spending three hours at this location, I had to drive myself back to the office for a final interview. At this time, I had to talk to the regional manager about my job descriptions. He told me that I had to pay for my own gas, tolls, and all other expenses to get to each locations. There would also be no benefits of any kind.

I worked for Empire Promotional events for 25 days in October. Everyone would have to show up to the office by 8 A.M. And they didn't want to hear any excuses why you were late. Even if showed up 5 minutes late or were stuck in traffic, there were no excuses. While I was there, two people were fired because they were late. Each day we had to stay later. Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, we ended at 6:30, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, it was 7:00. We didn't get overtime for working longer hours. And you must return to the office at the end of every day to return the product and bring them all the money you were able to get from people. Even if you are with a supervisor, and they bring everything back, you must return to the office. If you don't, you will get fired.

They sent me all over the place, and the worst part was they did not reimburse me for tolls or gas. They sent me to Staten Island on several occasions. I went to several locations in South Jersey. You stand outside rain, snow, wind, and every other kind of weather condition.

The worst part, only 5% of the money you bring in goes to the charity. The office keeps 95% of it. The three indivuals who run the office are all making good money while everyone else stands outside making 30% commision. If you have a bad day, you don't make anything, yet you have all these expenses. Yet the three supervisors are making about $150,000 a year. What a scam.
