I called my local water company (Lewisburg-Bellevue water systems) and asked to speak with someone about possibly making a payment arrangment for this months bill. Because the last day to pay is also the same day I get paid, I asked if they could hold off on coming out to cut off my water until later (the same day) I would have the payment in full.in other words, just give me until the end of that working day to pay. The last day to pay is the 15th of the month. Those who do not pay by the 15th will be disconnected on the 16th. The 15th of Nov. Falls on a Sunday. The next available working day is the 16th which is the same day I recieve my paycheck. All I asked is to please wait until 3pm on the 16th and I would pay in full. I can't afford the $50.00 extra dollars to have it turned back on should they cut it off. The Lady on the phone said, "NO!" I asked what her name was and if I could speak with her supervisor. She answered, "my name is Melanie and I am the supervisor." I then asked her who her boss was and his/her name and number so that I could speak to them. "NO." "no, what?" I exclaimed. She then tells me she can not give me the name of her boss and hangs up on me! I am completely baffled by this because I was only asking for an extension for several hours. It's not like I wasn't going to pay or pay in several weeks. I would have the money in full on the same day, I go into work at 7am on the 16th and that is also the same day I get paid. Once I got off work, cashed my check, I would be there to pay. That is the only number I can find for the water company and Ms. Melanie would not release any more information for me to investigate this futher. What do people in the same situation do? Who can I call? I've looked in the phone book, nothing. I have never been so rudely spoken to and strongly feel that once I do get a chance to speak to the 'real boss' he/she will have a diffirent response.
