At apprx 7:30 a knock at the door revealed a cute young blonde girl. Her spiel was down to a science. A college student, 19, earning points to go to Europe through magazine subscriptions. Very persuasive. I am an network marketer so we agreed to exchange information. I wrote a check for $50 for a 2 year Jack & Jill subscription for my granddaughter. We chatted and she seemed very sincere. Told me she was from a small town in NC and only here for the semester. She wrote her name, first only, phone number and e-mail address on a card for me.
I tried to e-mail her about 15 minutes after she was gone. Bounced. Tried calling and get recording, number unavailable.
I then did a web search. Then I immediately went online and canceled the check, which is costing me $30!!! I sent an e-mail to the customer service addy on the receipt advising I was canceling the order and stopping payment on the check. So far it has not bounced back.
They got me once before, about 4 years ago, I saved the receipt. Burn me once shame on you, burn me twice, shame on me. I thought the receipt looked familiar.
Now I need to go call all my neighbors and warn them!
In this tough economy how can anyone take such blatant advantage of people!!
