REBECCA CLARK JOYER, landlord/owner of a small apartment complex located at 6771 49th ave. N., st. Petersburg, FL, 33709, upon learning I was on SSI for a disassociatice disorder, causing short-term memory loss due to severe child abuse, informed me only AFTER I signed my one-year lease, that because the thermostat is in my unit, my next door neighbor's electric usage would be included in my monthly bill.
This was done with her full knowledge that i live on a very humble income just barely above the rent i pay, in the amount of $560 per month!
This is NOT the worst part - this vendictive creature had her repair man nail my bathroom window shut from the outside upon my request to have it fixed after my premature baby and I became ill after repeated numerous mosquitoe bites which caused vomitting and fever in us both. She simply did NOT CARE! Rather, she was more irritated that I made a repair request in the 1st place! I had to call CODES Inspections to make a report before she would agree to fix my window! Now, I make my own repairs in order to avoid her as she has frightened my baby on many occasions by screaming while intoxicated as he lay in my arms. He "freezes up" when he sees her now. This controlling and passive-aggressive slumlord has even made SEVERAL verbal attacks against my 16 y/o daughter who has NO friends because this psychotic landlord, without a life, literally STALKS her friends to their vehicles, then stands and glares at them to make them too uncomfortable to return. I could understand maybe if her visitors had been a nuisance but they were not. As a result of Mrs. Joyer's constant harassing and degrading remarks about me being on SSI, not working, and remarks made about us to other tenants quite loudly so we can hear when outdoors, such as calling my daughter a bum - when, in fact this beast has NO CLUE what the truth is - as if it were any of her business in the 1st place? I pay my rent on time EACH month and cannot work now because I am in intense therapy to learn to function better so that I CAN work someday and am attending college part-time to get my degree in Criminal Justice to work in the field of child abuse.
My baby was born blue, in ICU his 1st 11 days and is 13 mos. Old and can't sit up or walk so is beginning Physical Therapy next week. His Dr. Has suggested I apply for SSI for him to help us move out of this hell-hole to a safer, more peaceful environment, especially one where the landlord/owner is not so racist. My job is to teach my precious baby to sit up and walk, which is a FAR more important job than my landlord's daily routine of drinking, and gathering tenants in a circle to gossip and try to provoke arguements which I refuse to lower myself to. My 16 y/o daughter is so precious - she will be receiving her GED next week and is starting college with me (her mom) this September to work toward the same degree - I am SO PROUD of her! She has such a big heart, she is babysitting for our other female next door neighbor for her adopted grandson for only $2.50/hr. From 1am-6am weekdays, because the grandmother is struggling to make ends meet by working 2 jobs - and our landlord and loser tenants join in by calling my daughter a "BUM"?? They need to get their facts STRAIGHT.
They have never ONCE attempted to check out the TRUTH with either one of us - I guess that might spoil the fun of tormenting people they see as easy prey.
My daughter & I are now being treated for panic attacks through medication by our Psychiatrist in order to even be able to be calm enough to spend ANY amount of time outdoors! I realize this must sound difficult to believe but I can promise you it is true. My therapist and others have witnessed her cruel harassment - I've called Gulfcoast Legal Services, you name it - I've called them but NO ONE will help! So all I can do is wait for my baby's SSI check and MOVE!
My baby boy is having surgery soon to correct a minor birth defect but still it is frightening as he has no father in his life nor collects any child suppot and relies solely on me. THe landlord is aware of our hardships but doesn't let up. Upon hearing i had been abused with mice as a chl, she even layed a dead mouse next to my door after watching us leave with several bags of laundry to do. She also has been seen laying rotten, maggot-filled grapefruit from the grapefruit tree out side out door on our porch where we sit. I am a very spiritual person but find it hard to forgive anyone with this incredible amount of hatred and cruelty inside when we've done nothing I can see to provoke such psychotic behavior.
