I was moving from Miami to Kentucky with only a few items. Enough for a studio apt.
Compass Vanlines came to my house with an estimate of $714.00 for a door to door move. On the day of the move they loaded my stuff and had me sign my life away without explaining anything.
Once they were ready to go and asked for my payment the total ended up being $1090!! I was shocked and said "how could it be more money than expected when I have less stuff." they said that it took up 30 more cubic feet but that was not possible.
Then they charged $140 for packing material and I had packed all of the boxes myself. Are they charging for the blankets?
The next complication was that my stuff did not arrive in Kentuckyas stated on the paperwok. When questioned they said they never promise a delivery date and they had 21 days to deliver. The truck finally stove on Tuesday which was 11 days after pick up.
Finally this company is impossible to contact. They said they are closed on the weekend and yet they have a number on the web page that promises an immediate return call. The only person I was able to talk to was the woman in the office who gave me the original quote. She said there was nothing she could do. The supervisor was continually away from her desk.
Do not use Compass Van lines! They are a rip off!
