When you receive a letter and the envelope does not have a return address, it is a sign of badness. You open it out of curiosity because you want to know who sent it to you, there is no return address. You read the letter saying that you won an amount of money and there is also a check that looks real but is not. Observe the letter and check to see if the addresses match, if not, than its a fraud check that can get you into trouble. Call out of curiosity to see what happens, person on other end tells you to deposit the check. The letter states that part of the check goes to pay the tax agent and you have to make a moneygram or western union, instead he tells you to deposit the whole amount into your bank account. This is another fraud you can catch, when the letter says one thing but the person you called on the letter phone number given, says something else. When you call listen to the person and how he sounds and listen to the background as to where he is located. I have done all this out of curiosity. I decided to go to my bank and talk to the bank manager and he said it was bogus/fraud. I told him I knew it was too good to be true. The bank manager has taken the letter and check and will forward it to his top bosses to warn other banks about the scam. If in doubt, research or just go to BBB's website or this usacomplaints.com site or Phone Busters 888-495-8501.
