I phoned jbl air duct after seeing a coupon for air duct cleaning for $ 34 in the home magazine.
After just purchasing a home in s.W. Fl, i thought it would be a good idea to have the air ducts cleaned - as i did with my home back in md. Well after the tech told me that i had toxic mold, he said this is nothing to mess with - you could die! It scared the heck out of me so i called my husband and he said well tell them to do what they have to do to get rid of it. So they cut several holes in my ac unit and used a vacumn to clean the ac in the garage. Then i was told that since i got rid of the mold to the tune of $1700 that i needed a uv light for $900. I told the tech that i could not afford it with not working and that i really could not afford the mold cleaning but i would have to if it was going to kill us! He said well let me call my supervisor and tell him that you have 2 small kids in the house and you need a break in the price... He lowered it to 600, i still said no, then he dropped to 450 and i still said no... He ok, with tax and everything, i will give you everything for $2k... My brother gave me his credit card to pay for it. After the company left and my brother and i started thinking about it... They didn't even have the front of the ac off when he said oh we have a real problem here, look how rusty the bolts are! Well i checked out the company and sure enough - i was scammed as well as several others... So i made calls to the company and emails. I am in the process of disputing this charge - to top it all, the tech told me that my electric bill would be cheaper... You guessed it... It is $50 more and my ac does not seem as cold so i have another company come in for a second opinion which i should have done in the first place but i let this tech scare me enough to have it done. Stay away from jbl - they are crooks! Nothing but scammers!
