My husband and I came across this company and they had a $99 app fee. I had an eviction on my credit from almost seven years ago. I had emailed them and my husband had also called them to ask questions about their qualifications for renting an apartment.
We both told them that I had an eviction and he had owed (due to his ex) some money to an apartment from about 7 years. We also told them that my our credit wasn't that great either.
We then told the apartments that we had been renting a house for the past three years and had excellant rental history. My husband also makes 71,000 a year so we meet the income guidelines by far. We told the leasing person all that, she asked the manager and she said that, "the worst case scenrio would be that we would have to put down a $225 deposit. At the time they were running a no deposit special.
They came back and told us that they denied us because of my eviction. They knew that and they still took our money. We called other apartment complexes and they told us upfront when we called. Why couldnt Montevista do that?
