After my Patent was granted, I was receiving letters from various companies about them marketing my invention. I dealt with two companies and both of them were ripoffs. First company was comparatively charging less amount like $1000, I thought that was a safe gamble, but after they got the money, I never heard from them.
The largest ripoff was by IP&R, also known as Amazing Innovations, located in San Francisco, California. They approached me through a sales person saying that they were talking to various inventors and were going to participate in a trade show. They also claimed that they had contacts with various fortune 500 companies. They mentioned names like Wal-Mart, Macys and J.C. Penny. I talked to their CEO Ajay Gupta, by phone and he assured me that there was a great potential for my invention and companies were waiting to grab inventions like mine. Believing in the CEO's story I paid them $15,000, to market my invention. They said they were in a hurry to get my samples for the trade show. I sent them ASAP. That was in late 2005 and early 2006. I never heard anything until May. They were supposed to make the brochure but was defective and was remade, not satisfactory, then they said they would not recall models, as it costs too much and I had to live with it. As for the trade show, they said was only to make contacts but my brochures or samples were not in the show.
Since they delayed for six months, they gave me an extension, however I had to practically beg for the monthly report, which they promised promptly, every month. Monthly report would state that contact initiated with a company, person not available, next months report will say not interested or person did not call back, contact dropped. None of the companies contacted were Fortune 500 companies. The companies that were listed were either non existant or closed or very small like tailor shops, when I varified at random.
