This corporation holds shows all over the country - at least 10 at a time in various large cities. This company states that they have a "database" of thousands of collectors from all over the world. This is false - when they are using the phones or their laptops at the shows, they are actually calling someone at the corporate office to see if they should buy your item, or they are looking it up to see what it last sold for on eBay. You would be better off selling your items on eBay yourself. Greed is the name of the game here, not just turning a decent profit.
Sometimes, they take their items to actual auction houses to sell them, particularly if they aren't making enough money on eBay.
Most of the time, they are just buying your collectibles so they can talk you into bringing in your coins/gold. You should hear the managers talk about some of the people who come to the shows to sell their items! They think everyone is stupid and they make it an actual business practice to give folks as little as possible for their items. Less than half of what it's worth would be an accurate description.
They were so happy when the economic downturn happened, because they knew it would be BIG money for them - they could offer people much less than before and the poor people would be pleased with whatever they could get.
For instance - a vintage gibson guitar was sold on eBay for over $10,000 - the owner was paid MUCH less for it than that. A small vintage German tin car with its box sold for over a thousand dollars. Don't be fooled. The "experts" are not experts, just people who answered ads for traveling jobs. They only need to act & dress professionally - a knowledge of coins/collectibles is not required. They have to get training on how to negotiate prices, not recognize collectibles & antiques.
PLEASE research your own collectibles before you take them in. You'd be better off taking your items to the local eBay drop sell business.
