Wrongful Termination

I have been an employee of Wal-Mart for 4 years 11 months. I would've hit 5 years next month. On June 16 I feel as though I was wrongfully terminated and I think others will agree.

I had been working in the Photo Lab for 3 years. And I must say, although I complained, I enjoyed my job. I was a Photo Specialist and worked as so. I made sure that things were done that needed to be and helped out when asked. I took my job seriously.

Now on June 2 my Dept. Mgr decided that she was going to make down some of our merchandise sine we had an excessive amount that wasn't going anywhere. If she marked it down, maybe it would sell. Fine, we all left her alone and she sis what she had to do. Once she was finished with it, we began looking around to see what the new prices were. Another associate and I were shocked when we seen that a little handheld camcorder, (originally $84), was now $17.

Interested, I asked the Dept Mgr if that was really the correct price. She repilied, "Yes".in disbelief, I continued helping customers, but then was still curious as to the price. So again, I ask. And I get the same answer... Yes. So, I then asked if I could take my break early, and she said it was fine. Now seeing as she is my mgr, I thought asking her was high enough. As they say, she has more authority then us... Right? Lol.

So I went on my break and purchased one. I purchased it for the price advertised on the SAVE EVEN MORE tag...$17. Another associate also purchased one. After our purchase, I guess that prompted the Dept Mgr to recheck herself. That's where it all began.

Instead of taking $17 off, she marked it down to $17. We had nothing to do with that... That's all her mistake. When she realized what she did, she notified us. Upon being notified, I asked, "Do I need to return it? I don't want anything forming from this:. She then repiled, "No, don't worry about it. It was an honest mistake on my part. You bought it for the prrice I had it marked. If you were a regular customer, you would've got it for the same price. So no, don't worry". Once again, I listened. She's my superior in the chain of command, so I never doubted her answer. And the other associate had purchased rose bushes for $. 02 and beach towels for $1, so the low price never raised a red flag.

Then on June 16, after almost working a whole shift, I'm brought back to the managers office. There was an Assistant Manager, Loss-Prevention from our store, and the District Loss-Prevention in there. That's when I'm asked to explain what happened with the camcorder purchase. I tell everything, I had nothing to hide. I didn't see where I went wrong.

Once telling my side, that's when I'm notified that I'm being fired due to "integrity/dishonesty".intergrity my a*. If I asked my mgr her opinion on a situation and she answers me, I have no reason to go over her and ask anyone else. The two of us that purchased one both got fired under intergrity. And we both feel as though it was under a wrongful termination. And I'm fighting this all the way. I'm not giving up. I'm going to fight for my innocence.

Oh yeah, they want me to return the camcorder... That I paid for! What do ya'll think of this situation? How odd that it happened a month before my 5 year anniversary!
