There was a $9.99 charge added to my U.S. Cellular bill starting 3 months ago. It has taken me this long to get everything tracked down.US Cellular stated that because of the 3rd party billing they could not remove or credit the charge. They were able to tell me that it had been added to my daughters line charge. However, they could not tell me what she had subscribed to or for. They are under the impression that it is from an internet site where the download is free and the fee is hidden in the fine print. They are also under the impression that the site is a free site. The operator I talked to stated that they have been getting several of these and it appears they have been comeing from several different advertising sources, so it has been difficult to track down.
My daughter had ne idea, what this charge was or what it was for. I called the number that US Cellular gave me only to get a recording. I had my daughter call from her cell phone where the charges occured. We still are not sure that the charges have been removed. All you get is a recording.
How are you supposed to dispute a company you can not find or talk to on the phone? This thing is a scam. I have a funny feeling my daughter got hooked with this thing downloading free ringtones to her cell phone.
