I received a telephone call at work from a Daniel James who said he had filed criminal charges against me which caused a red flag to go up since last I heard, only the district attorney can actually file charges against anyone - individuals can only file a complaint. He went on to request my attorneys name and fax so that he could forward an affadavit. How can you file charges against me and not serve me with a legal summons? He even went so far as to say that I had been served via email. Email? Oh My God - you can't serve anyone via email. You can't even send a collections notice via email per the Fair Credit Reporting Act. All communications must be in writing and sent via certified mail to hold up in court.
This is a scam, and I have no idea why I am being targeted. The horrid blackmailer - whom I absolutely do not owe money to - wanted my employer's fax number so that they could send my employer the charges they were filing against me. That is so against the law as well!
I plan on reporting these people to the FTC as well. I hope they are charged themselves!!!
