Received a check for $5,109.00 and to contact representative Mr. Robert Kingsley before depositing check Check From

Today I received a letter announcing me as a second place winner of the 7 million dollar prize. A check was enclosed for $5,109.00 but to contact Mr. Robert Kingsley at 1-888-379-7942 Ext 1 before cashing check and for further information on this prize. I knew it was a hoax but wonder what my further obligation should be to stop this sort of thing happening in the future.
