Reader's Digest Sweepstakes - AIG Annuity Insurance Company
Fraud

I received in the mail today, a letter and a check for $3,481.10 from Reader's Digest. It came in a plain white envelope with no return address, and was post marked Canada 98. It said that my lucky numbers had been drawn, and that I would be receiving a lump sum payout of $255,069.00, after I contacted Michael Samuelson or Carol Nicholson.

I called the phone number on the letter, and spoke with someone about my winnings. I was speaking with an Arab man, he had a very strong accent, and was hard to understand. He told me not to tell anyone I had won this sweepstakes, just to go to the bank and deposit the check, which threw up a red flag. He said to call him as soon as I got home, and let him know that the money was in the bank, then he would authorize my lump sum check to be issued to me in one to two weeks. He told me that the check that got sent to me, was to cover the taxes and insurance on my winnings, and to leave it in the bank until my lump sum check came in the mail.

I am very skeptical about these things, so I got online immediately, and found a report on here very similar to the one I am writing. Usually if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
