BNN Financial Group
Consumer's Reward Program Lottery

My husband received a letter in the mail with a check inside for $3,900 stating that he won when he was randomly chosen through a Consumer database from the Consumer's Reward Program Lottery. The letter stated that he won a lump sum of $39,000 and that they sent him the $3,900 from his total prize to enable him to pay "applicable tax."

On the letter it gave us a number to call and ask for Amanda Brown or James Black. I called the number and asked for the two names that were listed on the letter and spoke with "James Black". He told us to deposit the check and call back on Tuesday (today is Saturday). We have tried calling back numerous times and it goes to an answering machine that states there is no more room for messages at this time.

I called our bank to check and see if this was a scam and explained the whole situation to them. They stated that it was most likely a scam and to not do anything with the check until I bring it to the bank and have them look it over first.
