I was contacted by CMS and asked if I was interested in magazine service. It sounded like a good deal and I was assured that once I received the contract and information I could cancel it for a full refund. The information came and after reviewing I decided that I did not want the service.
I followed the instruction for cancellation - checked the box and mailed back the form. I received my credit card statement and had two charges on it from them (March 7 for $58.00 and March 28 for $58). I called and was told that they would stop charging my card and that a superviser would call me back within 24-72 hours to confirm my cancellation. This did not happen.
Received a letter in the mail saying that they had stopped charging my card and now I would receive invoices monthly for the balance.
I called again and requested that the order be cancelled and was told the customer service rep could not do that and no supervisor was available. I threw a tantrum and amazing enough a supervisor became available.
The supervisor information me that I could not cancel the order that they did not receive the cancellation and had already paid the magazine publishers for the magazines. He could however drop my order to three years at $23.13 a month. I told him that I did not want it and he said that it couldn't be cancelled.
I told him that I would not be paying the invoices and would return all the magazines. He informed me that it could not be cancelled and would be reported as a delinquet account.
I am being held over a barrel with no recourse. This company is a rip-off and should be put out of business.
