I had two fraudulent charges made to my credit card, each for $14.95 by LeisurePlus and Savings2Go. They are affilated with Stonebridge Insurance out of Plano, TX. When I called to cancel these charges, they tried to persuade me to keep the two memberships that are NOT annual charges but MONTHLY charges.
I asked where they had gotten my personal information and they said I had made an internet purchase for a household item on Feb. 7th through TV Web. That is not true. I checked my credit card statement and I had not made an internet purchase even near that date.
I tried talking to different people there, even a supervisor. Most all have a heavy Spanish accent and are hard to understand.
Even though I was told that they would credit my credit card for the two memberships, I still called my credit card company and they said I would not be responsible for the two charges. They immediately canceled my card and are issuing new cards with new numbers for the same account. My advice is to anyone making online purchases to use something called a virtual account. Each time you make a purchase, the credit card company gives you a different number that they know goes with your account but it can be used only once and not passed on to another party.
