I recognized this as a ripoff right off, but it was good to find confirmation on this website!
The rubberstamped return address on the envelope did not match the address on the letterhead. Our address was updated years ago (same house, just re-addressed). Same form letter as reported previously, but the address is different (the PHYSICAL) address. Funny&almost exact same amount— mine was $189.96.
My letter was also sent to my mother, who lived with me years ago. I wonder if they are particularly preying on the elderly? Another posting mentioned that the potential victim was his mother. After reading these postings, I called just for the fun of it.
The recording (from the phone company) says they can not process the call. I don't even know what that means! When I googled the name, a website came up, but I got busy doing this first before checking it out.
This is a great website. Hope nobody else falls for this scam!
