Schneider National
Decepitive practices have to come to an end

I am sending this complaint form against Schneider national trucking based out of green bay, WI. Although I may be the only former driver thats written about this issue with new drivers signing contracts for this company but I join in thousands of complaints about paying back this money. Schneider national offers new drivers to stay for 12months to not pay back the training fee of 3500 without any guarantee of miles given to driver which basically sets up for him or her to fail before the 12months is up. I drove for schnieder in 2004 for 5 months (july to november).

In Training, instructors would say that drivers would receive average 2500 miles per week but of course the contract says nothing about miles or anything financial to assist the new driver to stay the 12months to satisfy the agreement. I have found out later that some drivers (upon request) have a written letter from the company guaranteeing 2500 miles a week. If schneider national knowingly sets up the new driver to fail before the 12months is up and the driver is averaging 1000 to 1500 miles per week at 26 or 27 cents a mile the new driver will quit because of his or her financial situation within the first 6months and schneider will demand payment of the training fee. The math on those figures and taxes taken out on their paycheck will be equivalent to just above minimum wage. Possibly this could be a danger to the public regarding underpaid drivers trying to make enough money to survive willing to drive tired and put the public at risk. Yes, all of these drivers knowingly sign the contracts basically because they have traveled so far and to not sign it would be a ticket to the unemployment line as most former drivers will tell you.

I am not sure of the turnaround rate of new drivers quiting before 12months is up but I can say that drivers who have 6months experience can leave to make 35cents a mile at another company and I'm sure they already know this.

In the prior two years Schneider was involved in over 1000 Accidents with over 300 resulting in injuries and 30 fatalities. 1 death is too much but some critics will say with all the trucks on the highway someone is going to die eventually but all of those 1000 accidents were preventable.inexperience, distractions, fallen asleep, we can call it anything and how much as Schneider paid out to its victims families that were killed because of driver negligence? And still today accidents are still happening with Schneider drivers and we ask why. There are other companies with the same issue and problem

Now they are coming after the training money using a a debt collector (United Resource System) and has doubled the debt to 6000. I have had no contact until 2008 with this company not sure why they waited 4 years to try to contact me or as they say. I hope the end result on this issue to clear me of any fincianl obligation to this company because of not providing a way to stay the full year, I do have documentation of miles driven and pay during those months. I could relate the pay as working at a fast food restraunt and that is the reason i did not stay as the other former drivers would say.
