This was a unique situaution whereas we had a fire at our home. The insurance company looked for a place for us when this man was contacted. We looked and took the place. He gave us keys to the house for every door except the rear basement doors.
Every door had a double bolt deadlock on it. He made it seem that we were his friends while he was setting up his ripoff getting to know us and to confide in him as a friend. Then it happened.
While my wife was out picking the kids up from school and i was at work he made it appear as if someone had opened a basement window and entered the house. He knew where everything in the house was and took all he could in the period of time that he knew that we would be gone.
He exited through the basement door and put the items in his car next door and took them to a different location. After we found out that we were burglarized we called the police and filed a report.in the area of the building, 3412 n. Keeler there are many kids and a school down the street.
I told my wife to start asking people to see if anyone had seen anything because of the time of day 2P.M. To 2.45P.M. An old woman that lived across the street that we did not even know told us that during that period of time she had seen the landlord on the front porch ringing the doorbell. She paid no attention to it because she knew who he was. She then saw him enter the house thinking that one of us had let him in.
She never saw him exit. Why? Because he went out the basement door. The only door that he did not give us a key to. We also had 2 dogs in the house. Now what buglar would enter a house with dogs barking. When we called and told this to the police they said that i should not be harrassing him. This is not the only incident with this man. His tenants also are aware of his actions. He is a parasite thats waits and preys on innocent people. During our stay at his place, the children were not allowed to turn on the hose and play in the yard.
He had everything locked up. The basement leaked and flooded every time it rained and was not useable. The musty smell permeated everywhere. The neighbors have all been informed and are cautious about this ripoff artist.
Enters beware. He tries to use the insurance companies to get tenants because of his outlandish rents. We paid 3000.00 a month and he will hold and try to get as much of your security deposit as he can. When they moved the rented furniture he charged them 815.00 for scratching the floor which came out of our pockets.
