I had sold some items to a nice lady on ebay. I had additional items I could sell to her and many of them for that matter. She was very polite over the phone telling me about her children and herself.
I said I would mail her more items over the phone with an oral agreement by COD. I had mailed her three large boxes costing me about $60 to mail of used clothes that I had kept in new condition.
I received two checks for my three boxes because two boxes probably delivered on the same day. I then could not cash the checks because they were from out of town, so I was told to deposit them. I did and later I found out one check bounced.
This bounced check caused many fees on my account and put me behind on my bill paying. I later found out the second check has bounced.
I wrote her a certified letter and she wrote back saying it was her pension and disability check and that they were not directly deposited like they should have been and that's why they bounced. She did send me $75, but I have yet to see the rest of it.
The checks alone cost me about $300 plus the fees from me not being able to cash my check from work and getting behind on my bills adds up to about $1,200 and I need to take her to court.
I really need help with this one so I can get my bills paid off and settle this. She seemed like a nice lady, but I'm confused and feel taken advantage of.
