As a US company working with international airlines and navigation service providers throughout the world, we are frequently in a position where we require the services of a
Professional translator. One company that we had used several times in the past was Translation Services USA. They had provided a product that our clients recognized
As a quality translation. On the recommendation of a colleague we requested a web-site translation service (English to Swedish) for a Major Swedish Governmental
Organization. When we provided the translation to our client in Stockholm it was clearly deemed unacceptable. To summarize the feedback our client provided;
Google translate would have provided a much clearer translation and any Swedish grade school teacher would have been embarrassed by the language the translator had used.
Initially the representative at Translation Services USA had agreed to do all in her power to correct the translation and provide us a proofread copy by COB
Friday, realizing we were going live with the website the following Monday. After several e-mails and phone messages on our part, we never did see a second
Translation. At that point we had no choice but to seek out a second translation service who provided an exceptional translation in
Less than 4 hours.
When we requested a refund for services that were, first and foremost, of poor quality and secondly, not used, they pushed back saying that the translation
Was acceptable.
I fail to understand how a service company based out of NY could argue about the quality of a translation with someone who is native to Sweden. At the very
Least we should have had this dialogue when we were looking to find a resolution.instead we never heard from them again and were forced into finding an alternative solution.
It's bewildering to me that a company would push back like this and refuse a refund when clearly this was a problem with one particular translator. At the very
Least, issue an apology.
Obviously we will never use their services again, and will certainly recommend to all of our clients to refrain from using their services as well.
