Caller said he was from "CMU". He explained that they wanted to send a new manual for the copier and needed to verify the model number. This caller had an accent which sounded somewhat Australian.
I told him if he needed the model number, he obviously was not the person who had a new manual for me.
He promptly hung up. At least he did not curse and say obscene things, as did the IDS (Interstate Distribution Center) caller several years ago. I have no doubt that if he had succeeded, my company would be receiving unwanted copier supplies at inflated prices.
