My son and his friend were driving his frined's car to Austin, TX for spring break, my girlfrined and I were right behind them on my motorcycle. We were going to get a room in Austin for the weekend.
They got pulled over by a State Trooper in Bell County (listed on the internet as a speed trap and corrupt).
We pulled over and asked what was going on, the officer told us to leave and we refused because it was my son, he said one of them was going to jail... There was no justification for this.
The officer asked which one was my son, I said the one sitting in that car, so he went over jerked him out (in front of us) and started searching him, questioning him and slapped hand cuffs on him, threw him over the car with force, all the while he had the driver of the car with his hand on the hood and just left him there.
I told the officer he didn't have to treat my son like that with no cause so he made us go across the street and wait. He talked to them for a while after I asked if we could drive them the rest of the way, he told us to go across the street and wait...
He wrote them up for Minor in possession of alcohol (misdemeanor), there were only two empty bottles in the car... We drove on.
So I called and asked of I could pay the fine by mail, they said no you must appear in court, now we have to drive 4 hours to that little rat hole of a court for this?
We showed up and they acted like OJ Simpson was on trial, they thought we were going to plead guilty, we didn't and asked for a jury trial, this infuriated them and the prosecutor said he would love to "Put them away"...
The next thing we knew a trial date had been set 4 days later... We live in Dallas and they are in Austin, TX...
Anyway. I believe the town is corrupt and has a speed trap set up on I-35 just for Belton Courts...
