On December 5 I received a phone call from Charles Dalton of Avenue Financial Group saying that I was approved for a $13,000.00 loan. I said I wanted to see the confirmation papers and interest rate. I previosly had been searching for a loan online through Lending Tree.com where I left my personal information. On Dec. 6 Avenue Financial Group faxed me their information via a fax machine at my local UPS.
The same day I received a phone call from Charles Dalton disclosing that I would need $1200.00 to secure the loan. I was instructed to go to Wal-Mart and send a moneygram to Teresa Thomas of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I did this, plus I faxed the signed loan documents back to them. On Dec. 7 I received a call on both my hard line phone (which I had never disclosed) and my cell phone. The call was from Dennis Crown saying there was a problem with my credit rating and that they would require another $1200.00 before they could send me the loan.
Again, I sent the money to the same person. On Dec. 10 I received a call from Dennis Crown saying there was a problem with the loan provider, but they had found a new lender that would loan me $26,000.00 with $2400.00
more security. I also recived a fax saying as much from Phillip J Howard, CEO, Avenue Financial Group.
At this point I told Dennis Crown that I would like a refund of the $2400.00 already sent. He replied that would not be a problem and faxed me a letter stating same and including the $48.00 I spent on the moneygrams. However, he then informed me that their company policy could not refund until Jan. 5. On Jan 5 their phone would ring and a recording would say "Good-Bye"!! It is now Jan. 6 and their website no longer exists.
I can now see that I am not alone on getting scammed by this company. If anyone is starting a class action, I would very much appreciate letting me know. I have contacted the United States Secret Service and the F.B.I. With no results yet.
