Auto Zone rips off its own employees

I am an AutoZone employee, I've been working at Autozone nearly four years. Throughout those years i've been told to performed installations on costumer's cars by higher members of managment including store managers and district managers. Batteries, light bulbs, wipers ect..

The fact of the matter is that installations is not in our job description. Autozone does not provide any type of training to its employees nor does it provide certification for replacing parts on costumer's car. On top on that Autozone locations that do this service do not have state license to provide this service nor do they pay the state taxes that companies like Pep Boys would pay in order to provide service on a car.

It is clear to me that the intention of Autozone is to make its costumers believe that they provide the service. A certain television commercial shows an Autozone employee carrying a battery to the costumer's car. The commercial never advertised battery instalation for obvious legal reasons, but now the costumer has the idea that we provide the service.

It is also clear to me that Autozone's purpose is to gain wealth by the unjust labor of its employees. Keeping costumer's coming back for a free service to their stores by abusing of its employees. Average cost of battery swap is 8.00$, head light is 12.00$, This money should be rightfully in a certified mechanic's hand on any shop on America. This service is putting a tiny bit more weight on our already damaged economy.

An Autozone employee would not gain anything from this labor. Autozone makes it very explicit that if anyone was caught receiving a tip, even one cent. That individual will be terminated.in my eyes this is a major abuse, if an employee would refuse to do this service. That employee would get in trouble with managment.
