Left threatening messages about a Civil Suit and also idenified themselves as a legal firm

In the beginning of Oct. I received a message left on my answering machine by a gentleman saying; "We have made several attempts to try to call you.in order to resolve this matter you need to contact our office at 877-268-9286." Well not knowing who or what it was in regards to my husband said don't bother calling, because of the tone of the guys voice and if anyone is really trying to get a hold of us, he said the mail system works just great. Well I was curious and my sister happened to be over so she called. A lady answered the phone, said it was Tri-Financial. My sister stated why she was calling and iterated the message that was left. The lady than asked for the phone number so she could look up who they were trying to reach. She said they were trying to reach me, stated both my current married name and my last married name (aka also known as). Than proceeded to tell my sister there will be a civil suit filed against me. My sister told her she can not legally discuss this with her. She was told she was not doing anything wrong, anything that is against the law. My sister than asked, well what is it for? The lady at first did not know than came up with the answer Verizon. Well my sister knew I didn't have Verizon phone service and told her that and the lady got mad so my sister hung up. I than called them back myself and told them to never call again, they got really nasty so I hung up. I would not give the any personal info. The info they did have on me, you can find right on the internet by searching. Even who my phone service provider is in my area (whitepages.com), which is Verizon, but I do not use Verizon. Never have used Verizon.

On Oct. 10th the same lady called my husband's office looking for me. Mumbled something about a letter was sent to me and returned undelivered. The receptionist didn't understand what she wanted so she asked, why are you calling and told her I do not work there. The lady just said, well that's strange.

I called Verizon's landline dept on Oct. 10th. They have never heard of Tri-Financial. The lady at Verizon was nice enough to call Tri-Fiancial to see what they were calling me about. Tri-Financial told her they contract out with Verizon wireless. I than called Verizon wireless and was told they have never heard of Tri-Financial, but the debt collectors they deal with can sell the debt to others. She also told me if I ever did any business with Verizon I would still be on file. I gave her my name and S.S.# to verify I have never dealt with Verizon and she comfirmed.

Around Oct. 17th Veronica Taylor called my husbands office again (which he does not physically work in his office, he's out on job sites.) Veronica identified Tri-Financial as a legal firm. After she said it she gave a little insecure laugh. The receptionist said a legal firm? Veronica said well yah. She than was asked why she was calling this number for me. Veronica stated it was a business matter. The receptionist asked you mean a personal business matter or business related to this xxx company. Veroniac Taylor said personal matter, she was than told she has the wrong number. I called back later after finding out and demanded to talk with a one of their attorneys at Tri-Financial and was told they only have paralegals that work there. None were available, only there part time. I than expained the message that was left and let them know to indicate you are a law firm you have to be licensed and asked them for their license number. H e said they are only operators. I than asked to talk to Veronica, the gentleman did not know a Veronica (at the time I forgot her last name) I than asked for her extension she left #347, again no such luck, doesn't exist. The gentleman wanted my info to look it up, but I refused. He than told me they have 120 operators and he did not know a Veronica. I had already did my own investigating and knew they lie and commit fraud to innocent people.

On Oct. 21st they started to leave recorded messages at my husbands place of work after work hours about 7:30 P.M. On a general answering machine. It said, my name, this is Veronica Taylor calling from the offices of Tri-Financial Assoc. You need to speak to me immediately in regards to the civil offer pending against you, the number here is 1-877-286-9286 my ext. Is 347 and your case number, my name, is 90826. The receptionist that answers the phone is the first one to hear any messages left on the general voice mail box. This has been several times Tri-Financial has called my husbands place of work.

I have filed complaints with both the N.Y. Attorney Generals Office and FTC. I have also sent a Cease and Desist letter, but they still call my home phone. They have as far as I am aware of stopped calling my husbands office. No paper work has ever been sent in regards to why they are calling. I do not know what they are claiming I owe, because I have never given them the chance to discuss their bogus claims and I do not owe them money. No one calls and threatens me with a pending civil matter. I even called the court house in my area and they said they have never heard of such a thing and there is nothing on file for Tr-Financial to be harrassing me on. All they are doing is phishing for information on me. Any info they do have anyone can find on the internet, even my husbands office number, which I am correcting so no other idiots can call his place of work for me or him. I will also be blocking their number with my phone company. If they can not send proof of their allegations, than they are not worth dealing with. Unfortunately because of the internet is why we have these problems. Tri-Financial has financial problems of their own. They make money by ripping innocent people off.in most cases they fined people that have had past debt problems. They try to collect on these debts that they have no right to. They do this by trying to scare you with bogus threats. I have also been monitoring my credit, so far nothing has shown up. I recommend everyone that comes in contact with them does the same thing.

I found out from the N.Y. Attornet Generals office today they have received a large amount of complaints about Tri-Financial. Please file your complaint if you have not they need to be investigated. Tri-Financial feels they are above the law and they need to be stopped.

They also call from 716-213-4370.
