I had an accident in April of I was rear ended and I selected Champion Chevrolet to complete my repairs. The insurance company of the individual that hit me was out of state so after their adjusted did his investigation they sent a check payable to me for the repairs. It took Champion 7 weeks to complete the repairs on my truck, I was in a rental car for almost 60 days. After completion I had to take my truck back 3 times because the repairs were not correct and to date they still are not correct. I get water coming through my lift gate and allot of noise as well as if something is open back there. When I picked up my vehicle on June 22 I paid the cashier cash for the repairs as well as they completed the annual inspection on my vehicle so I paid for that with my debit card. The cashier marked my receipt paid. About 6 weeks later I get a call from the body shop stating that they didn't show that I had paid the balance. I advised them that I did and that the cashier stamped my receipt paid. I faxed a copy of the receipt over to them. They continued to harrass me for a couple of weeks. Then I didn't hear anything else. I assumed that they received the faxed copy of the receipt and they had straightened out their books. I moved on with life. On November 9 my truck came up missing from my garage. I called the police to file a report and the officer informed me that Champion Chevrolet had my vehicle. The claimed they put a mechanics lien on my truck. They took my truck from my garage, with my purse and everything in it. No one notified me or anything. I never received anything by mail at all. I went to the dealership and was advised that I would need to make payment in order to get my truck back. Well my purse as well as the receipt was in the vehicle. I keep all receipts pertaining to the car in the manual bill fold in the glove box. The body shop manager Jose Villareal stated that my truck was not yet at their location but would be a 12:00. So I went back at that time to find that someone had gone through everything in the truck... My purse was empty... No wallet no money or anything. I got upset and started to cry and Jose walks over to the truck and asks me if I was looking for this wallet. He opened up the arm rest compartment, where my coin purse was. Now initially my corn purse had about $160 in it. I had gone out with some friends that Saturday night and I had my money in there. There was also $400 in my wallet because I am the team mom for my son's little league football team and I had just collected that money on Saturday morning from the parents. I checked the glove box so that I could show them the receipt stamped paid and get my truck back. Well... The glove box had been ransacked and there was no receipt or manual. I ended up having to pay for the repair that the insurance company had paid for already along with they charged me a $2500.00 locate (repossession) fee, a $75.00 administrative fee and a $60.00 storage fee. I called around and asked everyone that I could why would a locate fee be $2500.00 and no one understood that at all. The manager Jose wouldn't even let us see the paperwork, he said he couldn't let us see the file because of the privacy act... Well I thought the privacy act protected people from strangers viewing their information. But shouldn't I be able to view my own file... Its about me and my vehicle? My mother advised me to pay the money and secure proper documentation and we would contact legal counsel to recoup the money. Well when trying to start the truck up to leave their property it wouldn't start. Jose claimed that his locate people used a tow truck to tow my truck away however my neighbor said he saw the guys when they came, gave the police a statement and everything and they didn't use a tow truck, they broke the steering column. So as of today I still don't have my truck. It had to go to the shop to be repaired. I am so dissappointed in this dealership. I filed a police report for the missing items in my vehicle as well as my purse. I have been put in a position to have to get another drivers license and social security card. I had to cancel all my credit cards. I am out of over $7000.00 because of their clerical error. I know that by hiring legal help I will get that money back from the dealership however it will have to be paid to the attorney. Why do these people think that they can walk all over you??? Where is the justice. I paid them and faxed them the proof... Why steel my money and especially my receipt which was my proof of payment... Was it greed??? The auto industry and the economy is already dying... Why hurt things even more by cutting of customers.
