A letter was sent in the mail to me with check for the amount of $4,888.53. It stated that I was the winner of a computerized ballot system and that my total winnings came to $100,000.00.
They claimed that my name was drawn from Readers Digest, Publishers Clearing House, Online Sweepstakes, Inernet Games and etc..
The company on the letterhead was TBC Financials @ 7011 Orchard Lake RD P.O. Bx 254320, W Bloomingfield, MI 48376. The letter was dated Oct. 27.
They listed a name of Joanna Marcus/Sean Peter and to call (647) 8338091 and it went on to supply a reference #.
There was also mention of a 3.8% tax on the amount of the check sent. I called the person and finally they answered the phone.
They instructed me to deposit the check and that to call them back when I had done so, and that they would instruct me on how to deal with the taxes.
I became suspicous, it sounded too good to be true. I decided to wait on the deposit of the check and called the IRS. I asked about how sweepstake taxes were dealt with. They said taxes should be filed when I file my taxes like always at the begining of the year with my regular earnings.
I decided to look up TBC Financial on the internet and found your website.
