Vonage VOIP
Vonage practices shady business practices

The last three weeks have be telephone hell for me and my family.

Bottom line: no one should do business with them. Never mind the terrible phone service you get. The technical support personnel are terrorists!

Here is what happened.

I was having telephone and internet problems. For internet my upload was 2mb and my download was 3mb. I called Vonage because when I plugged in my PC into the Comcast cable box the speed improved dramatically. So I call Vonage and they blame Comcast. Thats that. So I told them I would change from Vonage VOIP to Comcast VOIP. I figured I could live with the internet being slow.

But low and behold a couple of days later I called my home to speak to my ill mom-in-law and got message, "your telephone number has been temporarily disconnected". Hmmm. I tried again 5 minutes later - still getting the message. So I call Vonage. Tell them. They put me on hold. Tech gets back on says, "seems to be working now". I tried it and he was right I could call home.

A few days later again can not call home - says number is temporarily disconnected. But after trying a few minutes later I could call my home number. Very bizarre. Why all of a sudden?

A few days later on a weekend while I am home on the phone having a two-way conversation - all of a sudden I can not hear the other party. This happens for about 20 seconds the party is back and asks what is wrong because all they heard be saying was "hello hello..." and they could hear me all along. It happens on another call. I call Vonage ask for a new Vonage modem. They tell me to go buy one and they will reimburse my account. I say no way its your service your company if you want my business send me another modem. They did not. Of course, they knew I was going to another Voip vender.

Another week goes by and more phone problem which now include "NO DIAL TONE" Call Vonage and all they can say is "we are sorry for that"
I demanded a new Vonage modem. They agreed. I told them to remember to include a "ship to" label to send back the defective modem. Three days later the the device with NO RETURN LABEL. I called Vonage again. They said, "we are sorry for that" but it was included in the packaging. I assured her it was not. She kept say 3 times for me to check the inside of the packaging. This was madenning indeed. I said for the 4th time I do not have a return label. Why could she not then and there give me the RA number and the address for me to ship the unit to. They just like to bust your chops.

She said that a week would have to transpire before she would issue me a new RA and label - that would be October 24th. Ok whatever.

On October 24th 15 minutes before MIDNIGHT I am awoken by Vonage. Its the Tech who wants to tell me about the RA and label. I was pissed and I hung up.

On October 25th at 10:15pm again was woke up from my sleep by Vonage. I said DO NOT CALL ME at night and hung up.

On October 26th at 6pm I got a call from Vonage. Wanted to know about the modem and if I had sent it back. I said I had because on the 17th of October I found an email with an RA number of it and a ship to address. I sent package out on October 24th via UPS. Oh by the way, I asked if they knew I had stopped by service with them to go with Comcast - to my surprise they said "NO"..

They had to know because Comcast could not use our same telephone number until Vonage has released it.

Well now I no longer have Vonage and I am at Peace.
