We too were ripped off by Debt Settlement USA. We were desperate and didn't realize that they were not reputable. Unfortunately when you are desperate you will grasp at straws. They had us by saying we told you that we were taking out $200 a month out of your checking account as our fee. You are supposed to be saving an added $137 or so in a separate account. We will cut your debt in half and negotiate with the credit card companies.
After we got wise to them we realized that they were not negotiating and we were out $1,600 and had to change our checking account or they would have continued sucking our money out. We contacted the BBB and they contacted Debt Settlement USA and basically we are screwed.
John from Debt Settlement USA condescended to us and talked down to us telling us that they could still negotiate with us, yeah right, and suck more money out of us.in the mean time we were sued by a credit card company for $9,000 and have filed bankruptcy. Run for the hills if you see this company. Our attorney told us that these companies are owned by credit card companies. There are reputable ones that will really help you, but it is too late for us now.
