Isle Roofing aka Truman Albright of 2240 Mimosa #9, Houston, Texas 77019, (713) 528-1106, (713) 529-5755 and (713) 269-9664 and a fax (713) 644-8892, was hired by my mother a senior citizen living on social security to replace her roof, damaged by Hurricane Ike. He told her that he needed 1/2 of the money down to buy the materials for the roof and the other 1/2 when the job was completed. My mother paid him 1/2 of the money.
Mr. Albright then told my mother that he would deliver the material on Monday and put on her new roof the next day, Tuesday. He did not show up nor did he call. On Tuesday evening, my mother asked me to call him and find out the status. I called him and he used the excuse of bad weather and said that it had rained all day, but it only rained until about 10:00 am. When I tried to tell them that it didn't rain all day, he said that just because it hadn't rained on our "Little Green Acres" didn't mean that it hadn't rained where he was. (dah) Well, he was supposed to be at my mothers and it was not raining there. He then proceeded to tell me that my mother was next in line to get her roof and that he would be there on Thursday. Well, Thursday came and no show and no phone call. Friday came and no show and no phone call.
Saturday morning, my mother and I call him. He first told my mother that he would be there Sunday morning to put on her roof and they hung up and that he was behind about 2 days. But, she was next in line, so how could he be behind? My mother asked him why he wasn't at the house then, she told him that it was beautiful outside and he again got smart and said that just because it wasn't raining at her house, didn't mean that it wasn't raining where he was. She then talked with me and we decided that we could not trust this person and my mother wanted her money back to get someone reliable to do her roof, so she asked me to call him back and ask for her money.
I called him back and told him that my mother had decided to get her money back and find someone else to do her roof. He said that this was not possible. I asked him why and he said that he had already bought the material for the roof. I asked him, why then had he not put the roof on and he said I am not going to go through this with you and I will not do your roof. I asked him if he was a member of the Better Business Bureau and he said no and if I wanted to file a complaint with them, to just go right ahead. He then told me not to call his number again, because he would not answer it and he hung up on me.
My mother is in the process of talking with the District Attorneys office, ther State Attorney, the Mayor of Houston, her insurance company, FEMA, and I am talking with an attorney.
Please make sure that you check out a company or individual before hiring them and most of all, do not give them any money until the work is done. I do not want anyone else to go through what my mother is going through. Although, I feel quite sure that he is doing this to other people and if there is a way, I want to put a stop to it. This man, if you can call him a man, should be behind bars, instead of being able to steal from Senior Citizens or anyone else.
