On 4 November I heard a radio announcement on a well known, respected radio station about a company, National Audit Defense Network, or NADN, which was selling a $40 tax help packet for the cost of shipping. I was curious about the offer and so I called. After getting my personal information, they proceeded to try and sell me a tax service for the next 4 years at the cost of $1412.95.
When I told them I was only interested in their tax help packet and did not want to pay for their tax auditing services, they kept trying to persuade me to take advantage of this service by sending me from one person to another. I think I talked with 3 or 4 different people that morning, who kept trying to pressure me into purchasing their tax auditing service, despite my telling them I was not interested.
The woman I spoke with, I do not recall her name, said, You know when you purchase something on your credit card you can always cancel that purchase without any questions or problems. I asked her if I could think about their service and read some documentation about their company and call them back if I was interested. They told me I could only have this opportunity at that moment when I was speaking with them. If I called back 5 minutes later, they would charge me their full price, which was $3,000 or $4,000.
They also told me if I sent in my last 3 years tax returns, they would save me over $1000 per year by sending in an amended tax return for those years. This savings alone would pay for their service, so they said. Based on this statement I relented to their service.
I faxed in my and 1999 tax returns to them. After sending in this information, I spoke with at least 6 different people. Each assured me they would service my account and amend my tax returns. To date, I have not received any word from them on my amended tax returns nor on any additional tax savings I would receive from using their service.
Because they have not fulfilled their agreement to provide a minimum of $1000 savings on each of my past 3 years tax returns, I have decided I do not want their service nor the hassle of trying to work with them. However, when I call to speak with someone at NADN, they either put me on hold for 30 minutes or take my name and number and then never call back.
They have engaged in deceptive advertising, as well as bait and switch advertising procedures, by making statements about their tax help packet and then convincing you to pay for their tax service, which they do not provide, despite repeated calls to their office.
I have made numerous calls to speak with someone, all to no avail. I have faxed letters to them, emailed them, and have gotten no response.
I have currently filed a dispute with my credit card company to find a resolution to NADN's deceptive and dishonest business practices. Please don't become another victim to NADN!
